Jones returns to HU board of directors

A familiar face will soon be back on the Hartselle Utility Board.
Hartselle's City Council has appointed fellow councilman Frank Jones to the board. Jones had previously served on the HU board, but resigned last year. Jones' new term will start July 25.
Jones is replacing Richard Sneed, who had sought reappointment. The council's failure to reappoint Sneed was a disappointment to some.
"Richard was an excellent board member," HU employee Linda Huskey said. "A man of his caliber should be encouraged to stay."
Still, the council felt communication between it and HU would be better if one of its own was a board member.
While Jones was on the board, the council and HU board members held monthly meetings. Those meeting fell to the wayside after Jones' resignation.
Councilmen Allen Stoner and Dick Carter and Mayor Clif Knight voted for Jones' appointment. Councilmen Don Hall and Tom Chappell voted against it.
