Hartselle Farmers Market  

The Hartselle Farmers Market is getting reading for the 2021 season! If you are interested in being a vendor at our market, here are a few things you should know that will help you plan for this new year.  

We welcome three types of vendors: growers, bakers and crafters.  

If you are a grower of plants or vegetables, then all you need is a grower’s permit from the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service. It is free and allows you to be tax exempt when selling your goods.  

If you are a baker, then you can sell your baked goods at our market on Saturdays under the Alabama Farmers Market Exemption Rule. Only certain products allowed under this rule, so be sure to check the Farmers Market Authority website, fma.alabama.gov, for the “direct to market guidelines.”  

If you are a crafter, and you make things from scratch at home that you’d like to sell, then you can apply to sell at our Saturday market. All crafters must have a Hartselle City business license to sell at the market and throughout the city limits. You can purchase that at City Hall.  

“When is the market open?” That’s our biggest question.  

Our building is for the farmers – meaning that if you are a grower of plants, vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruits and more, and you have a grower’s permit, then you are allowed to sell at our market anytime during business hours, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon. We want farmers with fresh produce to have access to the market whenever they harvest.  

If you are a baker or approved crafter, then you may sell with all the farmers Saturdays from  7 a.m. to noon. Saturday is by far our biggest day with the most venders and the most customers and is also when we will have all of our events. 

In 2021 our goal is to open near Mother’s Day with the Master Gardeners plant sale and any other venders ready, and we will remain open until the growing season is over.
