Just recently I read a news report implying that a state leader, not from the South, basically takes credit for the number of COVID-19 cases in his state going down. According to a supposed news report, the man says God had nothing to do with the numbers decreasing.  

Well, to each their own opinion, but I am going to share mine instead. Also, whether he made the remarks or not, I am sure there are folks who believe in themselves more than that God will prevail. 

The words to this song came to mind: 

He’s got the whole world in his hands
He’s got the whole wide world in his hands
He’s got the whole wide world in his hands
He’s got the whole world in his hands
Successive verses note that He has “the little bitty baby,” “you and me brother” and “everybody here” in his hands.  

I thought of this song as well: 

Put your hand in the hand of the man
Who stilled the water
Put your hand in the hand of the man
Who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself
And you can look at others differently
Put your hand in the hand of the man
From Galilee 

Not only does God have His hand on what is happening – not only in our country but the entire world – He knew this was going to happen, and He knew the results that would occur as well.  

Also, whatever happens or whatever the outcome, it will bring glory to Him in some fashion.  

Just a few weeks ago I asked our city to come together and participate in a community prayer service in word and song. I was out of town for this past Friday’s gathering, but I know many in our city have participated in this gathering the past three weeks. I truly feel God hears our prayers and will answer in accordance to His will. 

This verse is familiar to many: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” —2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)  

I would think not giving God credit for what is happening in the world could be thought of as a wicked way, but then again, just my opinion.  

I am going to continue to live and pray through these words of scripture: “I lift up my eyes to the mountains — where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” —Psalms 121:1-2 9 NIV 

I believe the lower numbers of both COVID-19 cases and deaths are due in part to the many prayers that have gone up for a hedge of protection around our communities and our state. God hears and answers the prayers of His people. 

I truly believe we live in a very faith–based part of our country. I am proud to say I live in the Bible belt.   

We place our hopes in the one who gives and sustains life. We might not know the future, but we know who holds our future. God is on His throne, Jesus is interceding for us, and His hand is on His children.
