AHSAA announces classifications for the fall sports

The AHSAA recently announced the new classifications for football and volleyball for the 2020 & 2021 seasons. Two area schools will change classifications with Falkville moving to 2A and Danville dropping to 3A.

The three area teams that didn’t change classifications, Hartselle, Brewer, and Priceville, were still impacted by the new classifications.

Football

Hartselle’s region will have two new members in Hazel Green and Buckhorn. They join Muscle Shoals, Athens, Decatur, Cullman, and Columbia to make up 6A Region 8.

Brewer will be moving to 5A Region 8. This region includes Ardmore, East Limestone, Lawrence County, Lee-Huntsville, Mae Jemison, and Russellville.

Priceville is moving to 4A Region 8. They will be matched with Brooks, Central-Florence, Deshler, West Limestone, West Morgan, and Wilson.

Danville, who is dropping from 4A, will play in 3A Region 8. This region consists of Clements, Colbert Heights, East Lawrence, Elkmont, Lauderdale County, and Phil Campbell.

Falkville, who is moving up from 1A, will play in 2A Region 7. This region consists of Ider, North Sand Mountain, Pisgah, Section, Tanner, and Whitesburg Christian.

Volleyball

Hartselle will play in 6A Area 14 with Cullman, Decatur, and Muscle Shoals.

Brewer will play in 5A Area 14 with Fairview, Guntersville, and West Point.

Priceville will play in 4A Area 13 with Randolph, Saint John Paul II, and Westminster Christian.

The new region alignments for football and area alignments for volleyball are set for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The board will vote on them again after the 2021 season.

Spring and winter sports realignments will be announced after spring sports conclude in 2020.
