Charity golf tournament scheduled in August

The Morgan-Lawrence Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors will hold its 7th annual golf tournament Aug. 8 at Deer Run Golf Course.
The tournament benefits Centers for Developmentally Disabled of North-Central Alabama, Inc., which works for physically and mentally challenged children and adults. It has centers in Lawrence, Morgan and Madison counties.
The tournament, which starts at 8 a.m., is a four-man scramble format. The cost is $200 per team, as the cart and a lunch in provided. Biscuits and coffee will be served prior to the tournament.
Mulligans will be sold and many door prizes are available. Each participant will receive a one-day free rental courtesy of Enterprise Rental Car.
First place in the event will receive a $500 gift certificate, second place a $300 gift certificate and third place a $200 gift certificate.
On-course contests include a closest to the pin, hole-in-one, longest putt, closest team to the pin and longest drive. The prize for a hole-in-one is a two-year lease on a 2003 Ford Ranger, courtesy of John Carpenter Ford.
