Baseball:

Hartselle sweeps twinbill at Grissom

HUNTSVILLE – A solid night at the plate from Garrett Wade and Jackson Terry propelled the Hartselle varsity baseball team to a two-game sweep over Grissom on Monday night.

Hartselle 10, Grissom 6

Terry led the Tigers in Game 1 with a 3-3 showing including a double and an RBI. Wade went 2-3 and drove in two runs in the opening game.

Grayson Bray earned the win on the mound tossing 4.1 innings, striking out six and allowing just three earned runs. Connor Burks picked up the save finishing the final 2.2 innings and striking out five without allowing a run.

Hartselle 10, Grissom 7

It was more heroics from Wade that propelled the Tigers in the nightcap. Wade’s single in the eighth inning drove in two Hartselle runs who held on for a 10-7 win to sweep the doubleheader. Wade finished the game 3-4 with three RBIs. Charlie Ord scored three runs and picked up two hits while Drew Nix and Taylor Easterling also notched multi-hit performances.

Houston Wright and Connor McKee combined for 13 strikeouts on the mound as the Tigers improved their overall record to 5-1.

Softball:

Hawks struggle to keep pace with Austin

Austin 16, Danville 0

DECATUR – A tough night for the Danville softball team ended in a 16-0 setback to 6A Austin on Monday. The Hawks were plagued by six errors and were outhit by the Black Bears 14-4.

Emma Broadfoot, Lindsey West, Emily Watts and Audrey Marshall all picked up one hit each in the setback.

Lady Patriots handle West Point on the road

Brewer 7, West Point 3

CULLMAN – Nine different players recorded at least one hit as the Brewer softball team took down West Point 7-3 on Monday afternoon. Ali McDearmond and Dallas Linderman each notched two RBIs in the victory for the Lady Patriots.

Shyan Flack and Summer Rice combined for all seven innings in the circle. Flack struck out four batters in 4.0 innings to earn the win while Rice did not allow a run over her 3.0 innings.

Soccer:

Priceville notches second-straight 10-goal game

Priceville 10, Danville 0

PRICEVILLE – Maegen Thurston picked up four goals as the Priceville soccer team picked up a decisive 10-0 victory over Danville on Monday night.

Zoe West notched two scores while Olivia Duran, Katrina Rotermund and Karli Wade each added a goal as well. The Bulldogs have allowed just one goal during the last four contests.
