According to Decatur Police a local man is facing an array of charges following a short pursuit in Southeast Decatur on Nov. 30.

Officer Josh Sloan witnessed Daniel Lee Hood, 23, of 2918 Wimberly Drive Southwest leaving a residence in the East Acres Housing Authority, according to police. Sloan claims he had prior knowledge of Hood having a misdemeanor warrant through Decatur City.

Hood allegedly fled on foot when Officer Sloan attempted to stop the suspect near the intersection of 18th Avenue and Beech Street Southeast, according to police.

Following a short foot pursuit Officer Kirk Arrington took Hood into custody and placed him under arrest for the misdemeanor warrant.

Police claim that during the arrest Hood was found to be in possession of crack cocaine, Adderall, Alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an unregistered firearm.

Hood faces charges of two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in the first degree, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a pistol without a permit, and resisting arrest.

Police transported Hood to Decatur City Jail where he was processed without further incident. Hood will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a 9,000 dollar bond.
