A Morgan County man was named the 2015 County Engineer of the year by the Association of County Engineers of Alabama.

Morgan County Engineer Greg Bodley was selected by his peers for his accomplishments in his profession. Throughout 18 years of holding this position, Bodley missed only one County Commission meeting. Morgan County’s most significant accomplishment during his career has been a $25 million initiative to replace 60 bridges.

The 1985 civil engineering graduate from Auburn University has also been involved with many professional organizations. Bodley served as an officer several times for the Association of County Engineers of Alabama and served on many state transportation committees. He was instrumental in establishing the county government certification through the County Government Education Institute and is certified in engineering administration.

The honor, which is ACEA’s most prestigious award, is intended to recognize exceptional county engineers.

“Counties do a tremendous job taking care of more than 59,000 miles of roads and 8,600 bridges throughout the state, often with very limited resources,” said ACEA President John Bedford, who is a county engineer in Colbert County. “This Association is proud to be able to highlight the outstanding work of our members.”
