Ever met someone that you thought had a lot in common with a man in the Bible by the name of Job?

What do you say to them? Many times, we have to understand that our advice does more harm than good. I’ll be the first to tell you that it’s hard to understand the trials that we go through, but what we must realize is that we are not alone.

Psalms 119:75 tells us: “I know, O Lord that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.”

I Peter 2:21 also tells us: “for even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.”

These scriptures tell us that God himself would take on human form and suffer just as well. I’ve often wondered why do bad things happen to good people. Some feel it’s because of sin, but Christ never sinned, yet He suffered for us. He gave his life so that we could be set free. We should strive to face our trials and sufferings, remembering that God is still in control and He cares about us.

Christian love and sympathy is extended to David, Ramona, Brody and Dylan Dean in the loss of David’s mom, Ella Dean.

The Family Life Center at Somerville Baptist Church was the setting for the Annual AWANA’S Grand Prix Derby Race. This year there were 30 cars participating in the derby. All the children worked hard on their cars. First place went to Rusty Casper, second place to Austin Barton and third place to Anna Patterson. Best Design was awarded to Callie Rae Childers. After the derby, everyone was treated to hotdogs with all the trimmings. A special thanks to AWANA director Mrs. Sheena Dugger and all the AWANA volunteers that make AWANA so special for the children.
