Tanner Heights residents eager to have their roads paved will have to wait a bit longer.
According to Mayor Clif Knight, work by Hartselle Utilities in the Tanner Heights area will delay any plans to pave roads in the neighborhood. The neighborhood will not be included on a list of spring paving projects currently being developed by the city.
"We've had to take a step back on that (paving Tanner Heights) and move forwards with others on the list."
Sewer work in Tanner Heights has been on-going for more than six months, causing the delay in any road work. That doesn't mean the city isn't interested in road projects in the area, according to City Councilman Allen Stoner.
"We were forced to drop them off the (paving) list," he said.
One project that may end up on this spring's paving schedule is a request from Steven Johnson to work on Sanders Road.
Johnson said the street department fills pot holes "every two weeks" and asked the city to pave the road. Knight told Johnson the road would be considered on the list of up-coming projects.
While paving projects are being sorted out, the city is proceeding with a series of drainage improvement projects. The Public Works Department is spending some $28,948 on the work. Projects slated for work include:
