Lauderdale County rolls past Danville

ROGERSVILLE – The Danville Hawks fell to 3-5 on the year with a 35-14 loss to Lauderdale County last Friday night in Rogersville.
Lauderdale County scored 21 unanswered points to get the Class 3A, Region 7 win.
Danville, after falling behind 7-0 early, tied the game on a 12-yard Jessie Posey run.
Lawrence Jacko added the extra point to tie the game at 7-7 with just over four minutes left in the opening period.
Posey finished the night with 59 yards on 10 carries.
Posey would score again early in the second quarter on a 14-yard run. Jacko kicked the extra point to tie the game again at 14-14.
Unfortunately for the Hawks, that would be the last offensive highlight of the night.
Lauderdale County, led by senior quarterback Octavius Nance scored 21 unanswered points to spark the Tigers’ win.
Nance threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns while running for 81 yards and another score.
Lauderdale County moves to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the region.
The Tigers will need some help from the Hawks however, if they want to be region champions.
Danville will need to defeat Rogers Friday night in order for the Tigers to claim a region championship. Otherwise, Rogers will win the title.
Danville, with the loss, fell to 2-4 in the region. The Hawks are tied for fifth place in the region.
