Nothing is sweeter than the sound of ice cream truck

Our community was saddened with the passing of Bobby Hanners. Christian love and sympathy is extended to his wife Barbara, and their two daughters, Tammy Patterson and DeAnn Childers and their families.
The Hanners family is not strangers to our community. Bobby ran a store, Hanners Grocery, at the corner of Highway 36 and Perkins Wood Road for several years. They sold the store and home and moved to Cole Springs where they bought a farm. They also attend New Center Baptist Church where they are members.
Christian love and sympathy is extended to Stephanie Jansen in the loss of her grandmother, Jeanett Degagne, to Dot Ledlow in the loss of her aunt Lois and to the family that lost their loved one in a house fire on Langley Private Drive.

Todd, Misty and Riley Irwin, Nathan and Javon Alldredge, Janie Holmes, Conley Alldredge, Allen and Jan Holmes, Gerry and Linda Holmes, Debbie Cummings, Bracey Cummings, Desmond Aycock, Greg and Pam Holmes, Joey and Lasanna Holmes and Thomas, Brittney and Bryant Alexander. During the summers when I was growing up in Decatur, one familiar sound that us kids was always listening for was the music announcing that the ice cream truck was coming down our street. A couple of weeks ago we were all sitting on the porch at my momma and daddy’s house and guess what we heard? The tune was different, but yes it was the ice cream truck. At first I though it was someone’s cell phone ringing but it kept getting louder. I walked to the edge of the sidewalk and there it was, coming up New Center Road.  Needless to say shortly after that we were enjoying a nice cool treat.
The flowers on the communion table at New Center Baptist Church on Sunday were placed by Sally Cheatham in loving memory of Kenneth (K.V.) on his birthday Sept.  26 and in honor of Cody and Ashley Vest’s wedding anniversary on September 18.
