By Staff
Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge invites kids ages 8-10 and 11-13 to spend a day this summer on the refuge. Campers arrive at the Visitor Center at 9 a.m. and depart at 2 p.m. The fun will include various outdoor activities such as: scavenger hunts, plant identification, bird studies, native reptiles and amphibians, signs of wildlife, nature crafts and fishing.
Campers will need to bring a sack lunch for a picnic and plenty to drink. Also, we will have camp T- shirts to be worn the day of camp for a $10 charge. Old jeans and comfortable shoes (no sandals) are encouraged. Apply insect repellant and sun screen prior to arrival.
The program is free. Junior camp, ages 8-10, will be held June 10, 11and 17 and July 9, 15, 16 and 22. Senior camp, ages 11-13, will be June 24, July 8 and 23.
