Joe Wheeler EMC has begun the process of electing four members to serve on its board of trustees for the next three years.
A ballot, including a self-addressed, stamped envelope, was mailed to each member earlier this week. It may be filled out and returned by mail not later than the end of business on April 8. Or, members may vote at the organization’s annual meeting at the headquarters office in Trinity on April 11.
Members who vote and/or register at the meeting will be eligible to win attendance prizes, which will be given away following an 11 a.m. business session. In addition, a $5 electric bill credit will be given to each member who casts a valid vote.
Voters will choose from among four candidates for an At Large District vacancy. The candidates (all nominated by petition) are Charles Black and Darius Crayton, both of Decatur, Kenneth Brackins of Moulton and Milton Taylor of Town Creek.
Black is a graduate of Brewer High School and is employed at Solutia where he serves as emergency response coordinator and utilities department team leader. Brackins is a professor at Northwest Community College. Taylor, a graduate of Hatton High School, is owner-operator of Taylor’s Catfish Market and operates a bulldozer service; Crayton is a graduate of Austin High School and has worked for 14 years in the aerospace industry. He is currently pastor /CEO of a local church.
Also on the ballot are two members vying for the District 7 trustee post. They are Charles Teague, the incumbent, and Douglas Coshow, both of Decatur.
Teague is a retired Delphi employee and owner-operator of Teague Chevron. Coshow served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve for 26 years and was an electrical engineer for 24 years. He is now president of his own consulting business.
District 8 trustee Ray Long of Somerville and District 9 trustee Shirley Livingston are unopposed.
The annual membership meeting with convene at 9 a.m. and voting will follow for two hours.
