Funeral for Sherrill Sherman Steele, 63, of Oneonta was Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 3 p.m. at Light House Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny Reid and Bro. David Hale officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Morgan County.
Mr. Steele died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham. He was born Sept. 13, 1945, in Morgan County to John Sherman Steele and Roxie Smith Steele. He was a truck driver for Malone/CRST Trucking Co. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lena Ann Steele; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Griffey.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Steele of Oneonta; two sons, Robert Steele and Steve Steele, both of Oneonta; a daughter, Tammy Jo VanHorn of Michigan; three brothers, Gary Steele of Waterloo and Ralph Steele and Rickey Steele, both of Falkville; four sisters, Hilda Weeks of Falkville, Cheri Steele of Waterloo, Dolly Wakefield of Tanner and Becky Talley of Cherokee; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were family members and friends.
