Hartselle second in district

FLINT CITY - Hartselle American finished second in the Dixie Youth 7-8 district tournament Thursday after falling to Decatur American Red 9-2 in the championship game.
Hartselle American, Hartselle National and Decatur American all came into the final day of the district tournament with one loss. Hartselle American needed to win twice Thursday to claim the district championship and earn a spot in the state tournament.
Decatur powered to the win with a strong performance from Ryan Jones and Trace Lentz in the final. Jones had a triple and two singles in the win, while Lentz singled three times.
Decatur American also got two singles from Cooper Wood, Jackson Keith, Carson Solley, Sam Olinger and Jackson Landers.
Hartselle American’s Mac Meyer and Garrett Sexton had two hits each in the loss.
Hartselle American 17, Hartselle National 8
Hartselle American eliminated Hartselle National with a 17-8 win in the semifinals.
The Hartselle American All-Stars had five triples in the win from Blake Mitchell, Braxton Peck, Mac Meyer, Blake Shelton and Conner Burks.
Hartselle National’s Avery Mills had a triple in the loss, while Britt Gillette and Dalton Faulkner both added a double.
