Danville wins pair at Hatton

HATTON - Danville wrapped up its regular season with two wins in a five-team showcase Saturday at Hatton’s Rudy Beck Field.
The Hawks beat Lauderdale County 12-4 and Lexington 10-7.
Danville will host Sumiton Christian this weekend in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs. The two teams will meet at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday with a third game scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday if necessary.
Dakota Wilson picked up his sixth win of the season after scattering 10 hits in the complete game. He struck out four.
Wilson aided his effort with a 2-run homer and a single.
Parker Hogan also homered for Danville and finished with two hits.
Zac Ward added a 2-run double, while Randy Thomason and Cole Veazey had a single and an RBI each.
The Hawks also got hits from Roger Smith and Bryan Rogers.
Danville 10, Lexington 7
Roger Smith doubled three times and drove in four runs as Danville beat Lexington 10-7.
Zac Ward and Parker Hogan had a double and a single with one RBI each. Wilson drove in a run with a single, while Jake Mahathy and Cole Veazey added one hit each.
Smith earned the win in six innings of work after recording eight strikeouts.
Michael Veazey earned the save by finishing up the game by pitching the seventh. He had one strikeout in the inning.
