After a week of rainouts, the Hartselle baseball team finally saw some decent weather and was able to get back on the field. The Tigers concluded a 13-game road trip with a double-header at Hazel Green and a game with James Clemens before coming home for a double-header with defending 6A state champion Oxford this past Saturday.

Despite not playing at home, the Tigers have put together a strong season, going 11-4 playing one of the toughest schedules in the state.

Hartselle 7-9, Hazel Green 0-2
The Tigers picked up a double header sweep on the road at Hazel Green to open the week. In game one, Jace Meadows picked up the win after allowing only one hit in five innings, while striking out nine. Cole Miles led the offense with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, while Cade Miles added two runs scored.

In game two, Hartselle secured the win with a six-run seventh inning. Peyton Steele had two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Tigers. Cam Palahach had a double and two RBIs, while Andrew Coleman added two hits and an RBI. Cole Miles earned the win for Hartselle, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out four.

James Clemens 3, Hartselle 1
Hartselle fell 3-1 to 7A James Clemens this past Thursday. Cade Miles and Jo Williamson each had two hits with Williamson scoring the Tigers’ only run. Nic Chumley took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits in two innings of work.

Hartselle 5-4, Oxford 0-9
The Tigers finally stepped onto their home field for a game with a double-header against defending 6A state champion Oxford. Hartselle first 13 games of the season were all on the road.

The Tigers won 5-0 in game one behind the pitching of Landon Blackwood, who was making his first appearance of the season. He pitched four shutout innings, allowing only two hits. Williamson and Palahach each hit a home run, with Williamson having three RBIs, to lead Hartselle to victory.

In game two, Hartselle fell behind 6-0 after two innings and couldn’t recover in their 9-4 loss to Oxford. The offense had nine hits with Cade Miles and Keaton Lance each having two hits. Lance also had an RBI and a run score. Steele added a home run and an RBI. Meadows took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits in one inning of work.
