ATHENS — A Falkville man is facing murder and drug charges after a Montgomery man arrived dead at Athens-Limestone Hospital, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Talmadge Anthony Townson II, 39, is charged with murder and distribution of a controlled substance. He is being held without bail pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.

The release accuses Townson of providing the victim with a fatal dose of fentanyl and then trying to cover up his apparent crime.

This investigation is ongoing and more charges could be pending, the release says.

According to the release, deputies and Athens police responded at midnight Thursday to the hospital, where an unknown, deceased male had been delivered. The man was later identified as Gregory Parks, 43, of Montgomery.

The release says those who brought Parks to the hospital advised staff that they found him between Huntsville Brownsferry and Nuclear Plant roads in Tanner.

According to the release, investigators identified a suspect and his vehicle, so law enforcement began to look for it. They found the vehicle at an alleged drug house on Huntsville Brownsferry Road and detained 10 people at this location before identifying Townson as the main suspect, the release says.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Townson allegedly provided Parks with a fatal dose of fentanyl and then used a knife to cut the victim’s pockets open to take his property after Parks apparently overdosed and became unconscious.

Investigators searched Townson’s vehicle and found the alleged victim’s wallet and other property, the release says.
