Priceville falls in Morgan County Tournament finals

The Priceville girls’ soccer team made a run to the finals of the Morgan County Tournament before falling in penalty kicks to Hartselle 5-4.

Kenzie Bowling’s goal off an assist from Anna Katherine Hopkins tied the game at 1-1 and sent the game to penalty kicks to determine the county champion. Hartselle outshot the Lady Bulldogs 4-3 in penalty kicks to win the game.

Priceville (7-1) goaltender Tori Staats finished with 26 saves.

Priceville 2, Decatur 1
The Lady Bulldogs picked up their biggest win of the season thus far with a 2-1 victory over defending county champion Decatur in the semifinals.

Hopkins scored both goals for Priceville. Lillyan Bloodworth added an assist, while goalkeeper Staats finished with a career-high 33 saves.

Priceville 10, Brewer 0
Priceville rolled through rival Brewer with a 10-0 win in the Morgan County Tournament opening round last Thursday.

Hopkins led the Lady Bulldogs with three goals and three assists. Bloodworth added two goals, while Kenzie Bowling, Anna Leigh Pilkington, Kathilyn Taylor, Madelyn Kennedy and Amidy Wilder added one goal each. Bowling, Kennedy, Carly Jo Nelson and Mae Vick had one assist each. GoalGoalkeeperats had one save.

Priceville 4, St. Bernard 0
Hopkins led Priceville with three goals in a shutout victory over St. Bernard last Tuesday.

Gracie Rodgers had one goal, while Taylor and Kennedy added one assist each. GoalGoalkeeperats had six saves.

Danville girls 7, West Limestone 1
The Lady Hawks raced past West Limestone 7-1 in a match last Tuesday. Layla Sherrill led Danville with six goals. She has scored 21 goals in the Lady Hawks’ first five games. Josie Bailey had a goal and two assists, while Mia Brannon added two assists. GoalGoalkeeperdy Reyes had 10 saves.

Boys
Decatur 3, Priceville 2

The Bulldogs fell 3-2 in the Morgan County Tournament opening round last Thursday. Diego Quintero and Landon Byer each had a goal, while Coen England had an assist for Priceville.

Priceville 3, St. Bernard 0
The Priceville Bulldogs picked up a 3-0 shutout victory over St. Bernard last Tuesday. McLain Lawson and Landon Byer scored goals for the Bulldogs, while Watts England and Ben Elder had assists.
