Boys basketball: Falkville, Brewer earn road victories

The Falkville Blue Devils (12-13) picked up a 60-20 road win over St. Bernard last Thursday. Falkville jumped out to a 26-6 first-quarter lead and led 45-15 at halftime. They held the Saints to just five points in the second half.

Cayden Butler led the Blue Devils with 11 points and five steals. Kole Fitzgerald added 10 points, while Peyton Davis had nine points and six rebounds. Landon Horton finished with eight points.

Decatur Heritage 65, Falkville 56
Falkville dropped a 65-56 matchup with Decatur Heritage last Tuesday. The Blue Devils trailed 30-27 at halftime but battled back to tie the game at 43-43 heading into the fourth quarter.

Dawson Fowler finished with a game-high 22 points to lead Falkville. Caden Butler had 13 points, while Peyton Davis added 10 points.

Brady Wilson finished with 20 points to lead Decatur Heritage. Hayden Page added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Nash Thomas added 14 points.

Brewer 61, Brindlee Mountain 46
The Patriots (10-13) picked up their tenth win of the season with a 61-46 road win over Brindlee Mountain. Austyn Holmes led Brewer with 16 points and four assists.

Cason Oden finished with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Jackson Dunn added 11 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.

Decatur 58, Danville 36
The Hawks (15-7) took a 58-36 loss on the road at Decatur last Friday. Huntley Segars led Danville with 14 points, while AJ Holladay added 11 points.

Madison Academy 68, Priceville 40
The Bulldogs fell 68-40 to 5A No. 3 Madison Academy last Thursday. Priceville trailed 19-5 after the first quarter and 31-12 at the half.

Sammy Holmes led Priceville with 23 points. Caleb Lawrence had eight points, while Luke Hood added seven points and four assists.

Arab 69, Priceville 52
The Bulldogs fell 69-52 on the road at Arab on Jan. 23. The game was close in the first half as Priceville trailed 33-33 at the break. But Arab outscored the Bulldogs by nine in the third quarter to take a 12-point lead into the final quarter.

Holmes led the way with 19 points and eight rebounds. Lawrence finished with 11 points, while Hood added nine points and eight assists.
