Morgan County Sheriff’s Office hosts Basic Firearms Safety Class

By Staff Reports

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is taking a proactive approach to firearm safety by organizing a Basic Firearms Safety Class to be held June 29 at 6:30 p.m.

Aimed at promoting responsible gun ownership, the class will cover essential topics such as safe handling of firearms, proper shooting techniques and getting acquainted with one’s weapon.

Located at the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, 119 Lee St NE, in Decatur, the class will provide valuable insights for individuals looking to enhance their understanding of firearms. However, participants are advised not to bring any guns or ammunition on Thursday night, as the session will focus solely on the theoretical aspects of gun safety.

In addition to the classroom instruction, attendees will have the opportunity to register for a hands-on safety course at the Morgan County Sheriff’s Firing Range. The practical session is scheduled to take place July 1 providing participants with the chance to apply their knowledge and learn important skills under the guidance of experienced instructors.

The class is open to individuals of all experience levels, from beginners looking to familiarize themselves with firearms to seasoned gun owners seeking a refresher on safety practices. Participants are encouraged to arrive early, as seats may be limited due to the high demand for this informative session.

Interested individuals can contact the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office at (256) 351-4800 or visit their website at www.morgancountysheriffal.gov for further details and registration information.
