Priceville softball wins New Hope Classic

The Priceville Lady Bulldogs improved to 24-5 after finishing the week 6-0. They won the New Hope Classic this past Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated New Hope 4-1 in the finals. They also defeated Madison Academy, Rockvale (TN) twice, and Huntland (TN).

Priceville 10, Madison Academy 2

Priceville defeated Madison Academy 4-3 to advance to the finals of the New Hope Classic. The win was the Lady Bulldogs’ fourth win over the Lady Mustangs this season. Bentley Black had two hits, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base to lead Priceville. Xoi Gains had a hit, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base, while Kirsten Segars and Allie Denson each scored a run. Madalynne Black picked up the win after allowing three runs on four hits while striking out four.

Priceville 3, Rockvale (TN) 2

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Rockvale (TN) 3-2 despite being no-hit. Denson, Barnett and Black scored after each picking up a walk. Thigpen reached on a bases-clearing error that drove home Priceville’s runs. Murphy picked up the win after allowing a run on two hits in five innings.

Priceville 10, Rockvale (TN) 2

Bentley Black had two triples, five RBI and two runs scored to lead Priceville to a 10-2 win over Rockvale (TN). Darby Thigpen had two hits, two RBI, and a run scored, while Denson had three hits and three runs scored. Madalynne Black got the win after allowing two runs on two hits while striking out four.

Priceville 6, Huntland (TN) 1

The Lady Bulldogs opened the New Hope Classic with a 6-1 win over Huntland (TN). Bentley Black had three hits, including a double and a triple, four RBI and a run scored to lead Priceville. Thigpen added a hit and two RBI, while Barnett had a hit and two runs scored. Elizabeth Murphy picked up the win after allowing one run on six hits.

Priceville 6, Good Hope 5

Priceville improved to 6-0 in area play with a 6-5 win over Good Hope in extra Innings. Thigpen had three hits and three RBIs to lead Priceville. Bentley Black had three hits and two RBIs, while Denson had a hit and an RBI. Murphy picked up the win after pitching 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.

Elkmont 3, Brewer 0

Brewer fell 3-0 to Elkmont in the Elkmont Fling semifinals. Breia Rusk had the Lady Patriots’ only hit. Bronwyn Borden took the loss after allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out nine.

Brewer 3, East Limestone 0

Borden pitched a no-hitter and struck out 15 in Brewer’s 3-0 win over East Limestone. She went 1-2 at the plate with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Marlee Jones added a hit and an RBI, while Cheyanne Lucas had an RBI and a run scored.

Brewer 6, Clements 1

The Lady Patriots defeated Clements 6-1 at the Elkmont Fling. Rusk had a home run and three RBI to lead Brewer. Keylyn Stapler had two hits, while Borden had two runs scored. Gracie Lawrence picked up the win after allowing one run on three hits while striking out four.

Brewer 7, Falkville 0

Brewer got past Falkville 6-0 in pool play at the Elkmont Fling. Borden had two hits and three RBI to lead the Lady Patriots. Lucas had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored. Lawrence picked up the win after allowing three hits and striking out four.

Brewer 5, Ider 1

Bronwyn Borden and Breia Rusk each had a hit and an RBI as Brewer defeated Ider 5-1 at the Elkmont Fling. Lawrence got the win after allowing one run on three hits while striking out five.

Brewer 6, Arab 0

Borden pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing five hits and two walks over seven innings while striking out 12 in Brewer’s 6-0 area win over Arab. Rusk had two hits, including a double, and an RBI, while Ava Walls added a solo home run. Lawrence had three hits and Abby Summerford doubled and drove in one.

Madison County 3, Brewer 0

Breia Rusk had two hits in Brewer’s 3-0 loss to Madison County. Walls added a double.

Lawrence County 5, Brewer 4

Gracie Lawrence had three hits and two RBIs to lead Brewer.

Danville 2, East Limestone 0

Hanah Tillman pitched five innings to pick up the win for Danville, striking out nine and allowing one hit. Isabella Guest had two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Tillman doubled while Ella Kate Tidwell and Kirstyn Robinson each had a hit.

Elkmont 4, Danville 2

Isabella Guest and Aubrey Reed each had a hit and an RBI in Danville’s 4-2 area loss to Elkmont..

Clements 7, Falkville 1

Skylar Gandy, Kaitlyn Carrington and Allie Smith each had a hit in Falkville’s 7-1 loss to Clements at the Elkmont Fling.
