Priceville baseball picks up two wins to start season

The Priceville Bulldogs picked up two wins to start the 2023 season, while Brewer picked up their first win.

Priceville 9, Arab 3
Zach Chaney picked up three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs to lead Priceville to a 9-3 win over Arab to start the season.

Tyde Borden singled and had two RBI, while Jackson Prickett, Ty Parker and Brayden Burney each added an RBI. Joseph Garrison started and pitched 3.2 innings, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out seven. Prickett pitched 3.1 innings, allowing four hits and no runs.

Priceville 7, St. John Paul II 2
Wes Walker had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI to lead Priceville to a 7-2 win over St. John Paul II.

Prickett had two hits, including a home run, and had two RBI, while Garrison added two hits and an RBI. Borden pitched three innings in relief to pick up the win, allowing one hit with one strikeout.

Brewer 11, Vinemont 0
Dylan Thomas tossed a complete game shutout to lead Brewer to an 11-0 win over Vinemont. Thomas allowed three hits over six innings while striking out eight. He also had two hits and four RBI.

Logan Powers added a double and two RBI. Hunter Knighten had a home run, while Brayden Murphy and Cole Drinkard each had two hits and an RBI.

Hayden 9, Brewer 0
Drinkard, Knighten and Justin Brooks each had a hit in Brewer’s 9-0 loss to Hayden.

Falkville 8, Meek 8
The Blue Devils scored a run in the top of the fifth to tie the game 8-8. Caden Burnett had three hits, two runs scored and five stolen bases to lead Falkville.

Denver Comstock had a double and two RBI, while Dawson Fowler had a hit and two RBI. Kole Fitzgerald and Lawson Tew each had a hit.

West Morgan 21, Falkville 1
Burnett had a hit and a stolen base in Falkville’s 21-1 loss to West Morgan. Burnett took the loss on the mound after giving up six runs, none earned, on one hit in 1.1 innings.

Fitzgerald and Fowler also added a hit for the Blue Devils.

Matthew Jones had three hits and five RBI to lead West Morgan. He also picked up the win after striking out eight in four innings of work.

Vinemont 18, Falkville 16
Vinemont jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first inning and held on for an 18-16 win over Falkville.

Fowler led Falkville with two hits, including a triple, and three RBI. Burnett had three hits and four runs scored, while Sawyer Reynolds had two hits and two RBI. Fitzgerald and Mason Moore each had two RBI.

Hatton 7, Danville 5
Cody Barber had a hit and an RBI for Danville, while Aiden Holladay had a hit and scored three runs.

Braden Stafford homered and had two RBI to lead Hatton. Joshua Merrell, Will Steadman and Parker Huff each had a hit and an RBI. Parker Crosslin pitched five innings of relief to get the win, allowing two runs on three hits with five strikeouts.
