Title: “The Lincoln Highway”
By Amor Towles

Set in the summer of 1954, this is a story of three young men and one little brother on a journey following the Lincoln Highway across the United States: a journey for which none of them are prepared. Emmett Watson has just been released from a work farm in Salina for involuntary manslaughter and driven back home early to Nebraska by the warden due to the death of his father. Upon his return, he is told that the bank is foreclosing their house and all the land. He and his little brother, Billy, need to pack their bags and leave within the next few days. While Emmett is getting the car ready to leave, two of his bunk mates from Salina, Duchess and Woolly, surprise him. They had hitched a ride in the warden’s trunk and here they were – with their own plan that would change all of their lives forever.

Title: “The Maid”
By Nita Prose

Molly Gray is very happy with her job as a maid in the Regency Grand Hotel.  She takes pride in restoring each room to perfection. She is so focused on this that she often misses things that others see as obvious. Things like drug deals and manipulation from “friends,” but when Molly walks in on a dead body, even she can’t ignore that.  Mr. Black and his second wife, Giselle, are very wealthy guests that stay at the Regency Grand rather frequently.  So much so, that Giselle starts to confide in Molly about how badly Mr. Black treats her. When Mr. Black winds up dead in the hotel room, Molly tries to help, but ends up taking the fall. Molly will find out what true friendship is when she is facing life in prison for someone else.
