Girls basketball: Priceville wins two at Holiday Beach Bash

GULF SHORES – The Priceville Lady Bulldogs (9-4) capped off a successful trip to Holiday Beach Bash with wins over 7A Fairhope and 6A Spanish Fort. Their only blemish was a nine-point loss to 6A No. 7 Mountain Brook.

Priceville 58, Spanish Fort 42

The Lady Bulldogs finished their trip to the beach with a 58-42 win over Spanish Fort. Priceville broke open a close game in the first half by outscoring the Lady Toros 23-9 in the second quarter to take a 35-19 lead at halftime.

Leslie Hames finished with 17 points, six steals and five rebounds to lead Priceville. Zoey Benson had nine points and 10 rebounds, while Ashlyn Johnson and Lauren Hames added seven points each. Gracin Prater added four points and eight rebounds.

Kate Miller had a game-high 19 points for Spanish Fort.

Priceville 60, Fairhope 24

The Lady Bulldogs opened the Holiday Beach Bash with a 60-24 win over 7A Fairhope. Priceville, who lead 14-12 after the first quarter, outscored the Lady Pirates 22-3 in the second quarter to build a 36-15 lead at halftime.

Freshman Abby Langlois finished with a career-high 20 points to lead the Bulldogs. She also had 10 rebounds to complete the double-double. Lauren Hames added 13 points, while younger sister Leslie had 10 points.

Mountain Brook 71, Priceville 62

Priceville fell to 6A No. 7 Mountain Brook 71-62 on Day two of the Holiday Beach Bash.

The Lady Bulldogs, who trailed 21-12 aster the first quarter, outscored the Lady Spartans 21-9 in the second quarter to take a 33-30 lead into the halftime break. Mountain Brook took a 49-45 lead into the final quarter.

Zoey Benson finished with a double-double, scoring 21 points and hauling in 10 rebounds, to lead Priceville. Leslie Hames added 19 points while sister Lauren added 12 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Libby Geisier finished with a game-high 23 points to lead three Mountain Brook players in double figures. Emily Straughn added 17, while Emma Stearns had 15.

Brewer 49, Danville 47

The Lady Patriots split the season series with Danville with a 49-47 win on the road. Brewer led 24-14 at halftime and held off a Lady Hawks’ second half rally for the win.

Madisyn Freeman and Cierra Marquez each scored nine points to lead Brewer (4-10). Marquez had seven rebounds. Lilly Yancey added eight points and seven rebounds.

Alyssa Brooks finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead Danville. Adily Alberti added eight points and six rebounds, while Elisabeth Hand had six points and 13 rebounds.

West Morgan 55, Danville 54

The Lady Rebels won their third straight over Danville with a 55-54 win on the road.

Olivia Vest finished with 15 points and five rebounds to lead Danville. Maddie Sherrill added with 12 points and five steals, while Adily Alberti added nine points and four steals.

Ardmore 50, Brewer 35

Brewer fell 50-35 to visiting Ardmore to start the Christmas break. The Lady Tigers led 22-15 at halftime. However, The Lady Patriots cut the lead to two heading into the fourth quarter, 27-25.

Lilly Yancey finished with eight points and five rebounds to lead Brewer. Chloe Romine and Jacey Atkinson added seven points each. Romine had eight rebounds.

Preslie Sanders finished with a game-high 17 points to lead Ardmore.
