Lady Tigers pick up two wins in Encore Classic

HARTSELLE — The Hartselle Lady Tigers picked up wins over Lee-Huntsville and Ramsay to finish the Encore Classic with three wins after defeating West Limestone Nov. 19.

“It was a week for us at the Encore Classic,” Hartselle head coach Amber Deline said. “We played three different types of teams that challenged us in different ways. “We have some things that we need to clean up but I am excited about how we played.”

Hartselle 49, Ramsay 42

The Lady Tigers (5-3) rallied from an early 10-point deficit to defeat Ramsay on day three of the Encore Classic.

Hartselle trailed 14-4 after the first quarter but outscored the Lady Rams 22-12 in the second quarter to tie the game at 26-26 heading into halftime. The Lady Tigers outscored Ramsay 15-4 in the third quarter to take a 41-30 lead into the fourth quarter. They held on for the seven-point win.

Gracie Hill finished with a game-high 18 points and six steals to lead Hartselle. Mary Frances Itsede had nine points and seven rebounds, while Karleigh Shipley added eight points and eight rebounds.

Tenae Jemison led Ramsay with 10 points.

Hartselle 76, Lee-Huntsville 22

Hill led five Hartselle players in double figures in the Lady Tigers’ 76-22 win over Lee-Huntsville on day two of the Encore Classic.

With the game tied at 12-12 following the first quarter, Hartselle outscored the Lady Generals 22-4 in the second quarter to take a 34-16 lead at halftime. However, the Lady Tigers dominated the second half 42-6 to get the victory.

Hill finished with 12 points to lead Hartselle. Hannah Burks, Ella Springer and Itsede scored 11 points each, while Anna Hampton Burroughs added 10. Itsede also had eight rebounds and five steals, while Burroughs added five steals.

Jakenadi Powers had seven points for Lee-Huntsville.
