Title: “Sunrise in Florence”
Author: Kathleen Reid

Rose Maning has quit her stable teaching career to follow her dreams of becoming an artist in Florence, Italy.  On her first day there, she meets up with her real estate agent, Lyon, and sets out to find her dream home in a historical part of town.  She fell in love with one place in particular that was owned by the Medicis in the 15th century.  Michelangelo, Rose’s favorite Renaissance artist, was rumored to have lived there with a Medici daughter and their son.  None of that could be proven, of course, but while the apartment was being renovated, Rose found something that might help prove it.  While trying to settle into a new country, Rose knew she had to find out what to do with her discovery.  Soon after, her childhood sweetheart, Ben, flew in to see her and rekindle a long-ago spark … maybe a bit too quickly.  They were always so right for each other back then, but now?  Rose is faced with a decision to hold on to the past or jump into her future without a net- and possibly change the art world forever.

Title: “The Fellowship of the Ring”
Author: J. R. R. Tolkien

In the Second Age of Middle-Earth, the Rings of Power were forged. However, the Dark Lord, Sauron, forged his own ring to be the One Ring that would rule over all of the other rings. His ring was eventually taken from him and ended up in the hands of Bilbo Baggins, a Hobbit. For many years, Bilbo hid the ring from everyone. Until one day, he decided to pass the ring onto his cousin, Frodo Baggins, to finally return the ring to Mordor and destroy it forever. Frodo and his companions set off on a dangerous journey to finally defeat Sauron in the first book of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

This classic fantasy book is a must read for those who love to be taken on fantastic journeys that have elves, dwarves and much more. You can find this book at the library, on Hoopla and Libby.
