Funeral service for Willodean Light Young, 77, was. held Tuesday, August 16,
2022 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Gunter
officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in New Hope
North Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 1-3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. Mrs. Young died Sunday, August 14, 2022 at her residence. She was born
August 15, 1944, in Morgan County, to Alvin Franklin Light and Hazel Agnes
Roberts Light. She was a loving mother and sister and loved gardening and tending to her
flowers. Preceding her in death were her husband, Prentice S. Young and her parents,
Alvin Franklin and Hazel Agnes Light. Survivors include daughter, Elaine Young; brother, Donald Ray Light; sister, Gaynell Light Ford (Tim.) 

 

Scotty Posey

Funeral service for Scotty Posey, 57, was held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at
1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Gunter officiating and
Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Posey died Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Lawrence County Medical Center. He was born September 23, 1964, in Morgan County, to Harold Dennis
Posey and Martha Posey. He was employed by Valley Rubber prior to his
passing. Scotty was an all-around good guy and loved his little dog.
His wife preceded him in death, Denise Lewis Posey, along with his father
and one brother, Michael Posey. Survivors include mother, Martha Posey; brothers, Tony Posey (Bonnie) and Ricky Posey (Martha.) 

 

Richard Robert McMillan 

Danville 

Richard Robert McMillan, 70, of Danville died Friday, August 19, 2022. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Mr. McMillan was born in Alabama on August 8, 1952. He worked in maintenance for Meadow Gold. Richard was a good loving man with a pure heart and enjoyed working in the produce business after retirement. Survivors include two stepsons, Dwight “Brother” Legg (Amy) and Garnett Legg; two stepdaughters, Thresa Legg and Sissy Legg; beloved pet, Mona; also survived by two special young men, Josh and T.J. Aldridge.

Funeral service for Joyce Chaney, 86, was held Monday, August 22, 2022 at
3 p.m. at Danville Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Bailey and Rev. Joe David
Bailey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in
Johnson Chapel Cemetery.  Mrs. Chaney died on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at her residence. She was born July 10, 1936, in Morgan County, to Irby Burnstein Harris and Lessie
Leola Roberts Harris. Joyce was a widow of 12 years, after being married to Milton Chaney for 60 years. She was one of the oldest members of the Danville Baptist Church.
Joyce raised six children, had five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She loved quilting and had ladies come from surrounding states to have quilts made. Mrs. Chaney was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Chaney, a son, Jimmy Chaney, and two daughters, Mary Asherbranner (Jimmy) and Suzanne Chaney. Survivors include son, Gary Chaney (Jalena), Moulton; daughters,
Nancy Sartin (Brian), Massey and Janie Waldrop, Decatur; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Adam Waldrop, Logan Asherbranner, Jacob Chaney,
Stephanie Patterson, Dylan Sartin and Adam Patterson. Honorary pallbearers were her great grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service and interment for Tresa Neay Pylant, 63, was held
Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Cemetery with Bro.
Paul Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation was held
Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. Mrs. Pylant died Friday, August 19, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born November 10, 1958, in Morgan County, to Orrin Glenn Stringer and Gurtrude Ophelia Hill Stringer. She was a loving mother, faithful friend and loving sister. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved her dogs. She was an avid animal lover. She was employed as an environmental specialist for River City
Nursing Home and Rehabilitation, prior to her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Pylant, his parents, a brother, Glenn Stringer and a sister, Beverly Woods. Survivors include sons, Davey Stringer, Jonathan Stringer (Sherry), and Jeremy Pylant;
brother, Phillip Stringer (Becky); sisters, Bertha Woods (Jim), Brenda Selvage,
Renay Steele, Tammy Bogle (Pat), and Teria Whitehead; six grandchildren;
three great grandchildren. Pallbearers were family and friends. 

 
Janet Elaine Atchley 

Hartselle 

Janet Elaine Atchley died on August 21, 2022 at Huntsville Hospital. There are no arrangements made at this time. Janet was born on February 18, 1964 in Morgan County to J.W. and Mary Atchley. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jackie Atchley. Survivors include one brother, Jimmy Atchley (Kay); two nephews, Kevin Atchley and Robert Atchley; one niece, Tonya Austin; and several great nieces and nephews.
