The Tigers spent a day in the corn field. Special to the Enquirer/Hartselle Football

Tiger football working through the summer

The Hartselle Tigers football team has been working hard this summer, preparing for the 2022 season that is quickly approaching. Their work has been taking place on an off the field.

They recently played at the Samford 7on7, where they finished 3-3, defeating Muscle Shoals, Hoover and Briarwood Christian.

The next day they played in the UAB 7on7. They played eleven games, winning the championship by defeating Prattville in the finals.

“The kids competed and got hot in tournament play at the end of the long day,” said head coach Bryan Moore. “Our defense shut out Prattville in the Championship game, which is a major feat in 7on7 tournaments.”

After two hard days on the field of competition, the Tigers hit a different field to help their program get stronger. They spent June 23rd in a corn field picking corn for their annual fundraising sale.

Players on the road
Several Tigers have been on the road at various summer camps working on their game.

Izayah and Ri Fletcher have camped at South Florida, Kentucky and Mercer. In addition, Izayah has picked up scholarship offers from South Florida, Florida Atlantic, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State and Samford this summer, while South Florida and Austin Peay have offered Ri.

Colton Stinson has spent time in lin linemen camps at the University of Alabama and Auburn.

Quarterbacks Landon Blackwood and Noah Lee participated in the Manning Passing Academy in Louisiana. They learned from some of the best quarterbacks in the nation, including Peyton and Eli Manning, along with Bryce Young of the Crimson Tide.

Busy July
The Tigers continue preparations for the fall as they will finish off the summer with a busy month of July.

They have OTAs scheduled with Sparkman, Grissom and on the road at Brewer, and participating in the FCA 7on7 at Point Mallard in Decatur on July 14th.
