Brewer High School announces 2022 senior class officers

Congratulations go out this week to the senior 2022 class officers of Brewer High School: President Lee Murray, Vice President Zach Joiner, Secretary Hannah Clark, Treasurer Mason Humphrey and class historians Lillie West, Brooke Robinson and Chandler Bing. 

Area Community News  

Neal and Dawn Estes spent the Thanksgiving holidays in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their son, Aaron Estes, was working there, training a basketball team that was playing there. They enjoyed having family time Thanksgiving Day. 

Devin Henslee spent two weeks during November and early December in the Lexington, Kentucky, area visiting with Sheila Napier and other relatives and friends.  

Mark and Rema Henslee of Key West, Florida, are visiting Aaron and Devin Henslee December 10-12 for their family Christmas. 

Area Church News 

Jessie Emerson, president of the Corinth West Womens group, conducted their Christmas party bingo and helped serve the meal Dec. 11 at 6 p.m.  

Christie Guthrie was in charge of their food project of community service to 80 families in the Upshaw, Piney Grove, Corinth, Mt. Vernon, Macedonia and Battleground communities. Members met Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. to complete preparations and deliver the meal. 

Falkville United Methodist Church members met Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. to decorate the chrismon trees in the sanctuary. The chrismon symbols represent such important Christian topics as the Bread of Life, the Holy Trinity, the Cross and the Crown and the Resurrection.  

Susan Smith and Jean McCaig prepared the wreath for the first Sunday of Advent Nov. 28. They used the violet color and greenery described in Isaiah 60:13, fir, box and pine. 

Town of Falkville thanks Pilgrim’s Pride  

The Town of Falkville thanks Pilgrim’s Pride for including Falkville in a Hometown Strong Grant to fund Pour and Play surfacing at the Jack McCaig Park.  

Special thanks also goes out to the ones who came to the grand opening, and a special thank you goes to Mike Elliott, Falkville’s feed mill manager; Jamie Young, complex manager; and Greg Sweatmon, live operations manager.
