11th Annual Veterans Day parade returns Nov. 6

By Staff Reports

After the coronavirus pandemic forced the Veterans Day parade to move to J.P. Cain Stadium in 2020, the event will return to its original route along Main Street this year.

The parade will be held Nov. 6 along the same route the annual Christmas parade follows, according to event organizer Lee Greene.

American Legion Post Commander Michael Ferguson will be the speaker for the patriotic program, which will begin at 10 a.m. in front of the Depot. The parade will begin at 11 a.m.

“We want to welcome all Middle East veterans home,” Greene said. “We got it all wrong after Vietnam and want to get it right this time.

“Usually about 450 people attend. Last year was weird, but we had about 350 people at the stadium,” he added.

For more information, contact Greene at 256-773-2304.
