Hartselle library marks Constitution Week

The William Bradford Huie Library of Hartselle and the Stephens Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution are celebrating the 234th anniversary of the framing of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Constitution Week is celebrated annually from Sept. 17-23. It is commemorated with proclamations being signed by the president of the United States, the governor of each state, mayors of municipalities, school board directors, radio and news station managers and local librarians.
Anita Pahman, DAR Constitution Week chairperson, and Jan Foster, DAR regent, joined library staff to create a display in honor of the event. The display was designed to remind citizens of the freedoms, rights and liberties guaranteed though the Constitution.
The tradition of celebrating the Constitution began in 1955 when the Daughters of the American Revolution petitioned Congress to establish Constitution Week.
In 1956 President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the resolution into law.
