Hartselle Utilities completes work on Patillo Street

A utility contractor and Hartselle Utilities workers finished sanitary sewer work on Patillo Street this past week.

The project has detoured sections of the main thoroughfare in the city since mid-March. It faced a necessary delay, according to HU general manager Bob Sittason, as certain parts of the infrastructure below Patillo Street were nearly 60 years old. Minor cleanup will remain, but the sewer work has been completed.

Mayor Randy Garrison said the city now plans to repave the street; that project is scheduled to begin this summer.

“The Patillo Street project is part of our ongoing rehab work within our aging sewer collection system and allows us to replace and upsize our infrastructure,” Sittason explained. “Through our partnership and coordinating with the city, we are able to make these improvements to our system prior to the city paving these streets, thus realizing economic efficiencies in the process.”
