James Everett McGhee 

Somerville 

Mr. James Everett McGhee passed away June 4 at his residence in Somerville at the age of 89.  

He was born Dec. 28, 1932, to Walter Scott McGhee and Annie Mae Bishop McGhee in Priceville.  

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Bracken. Survivors include his three daughters, Melissa Renee McGhee, Marlene Thompson, and Jamie McGhee; two grandchildren, Christopher McGhee (Jessica) and Tory Thompson; and two great-grandchildren, Gracie McGhee and Bradley McGhee. Mr. McGhee will be missed by Myrle McGhee Waddell. A memorial service will be held at a later date. 

Arthur Harold “Doc” Edmondson 

Falkville 

Funeral service for Arthur Harold “Doc” Edmondson, 88, was held June 10 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Edwin Hayes and Dr. Jerome Ward officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial, with military honors, was held in Mt. Zion Cemetery.  

Mr. Edmondson died June 6 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 30, 1932, in Cullman County to Thomas Arthur Edmondson and Berith Ann McCroskey Edmondson.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Freda Sue Blankenship Edmondson.  

Mr. Edmondson served in the United States Navy and was an auto mechanic for Mills Chrysler-Dodge Dealership prior to his retirement.  

The family sends a special thanks to the Floyd E. “Tut” Fann VA home and their staff for their wonderful care of “Doc.” 

Survivors include one son, David Edmondson (Michelle), Falkville; two daughters, Sue Norton (Steve), Falkville, and Bonnie Edmondson, Lacey’s Spring; one brother, Joe Edmondson (Fran), Falkville; three grandchildren, Meagan Edmondson, Beth Letson (Jimmie) and Nicklas Norton; five great-grandchildren, Jack Letson, Whitlee Letson, Emily Norton, Khloe Norton and Lilly Norton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.  

Pallbearers were Myron Tapscott, Jim Bowers, Joey Kyle, Patrick Gilstrap, Jimmie Letson and Jackie Russell. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Gibson, John Sivley, R.E. Tapscott, Gene Cash, Nicklas Norton and all past and present Falkville Fire Department members.  

Bonnie Ruth Tolbert Burks 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Bonnie Ruth Tolbert Burks, 81, was held at 1 p.m. June 11 at Peck Funeral Home with Bro. Clayton Speed and Bro. Earl Jacobs officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.  

Mrs. Burks died June 9 at her residence. She was born Oct. 12,1939, in Cullman County to J.H. and Marie Tolbert. She was survived by her husband, Frank Burks, daughter, Wanna Fay Reeder (Paul C.), grandson, Robert Daniel Dobbs, sister, Betty Lollar, sisters-in-law, Mavis Hale and Christene Tolbert, and nieces and nephews. 

She was a graduate of West Point High School in Cullman and of Calhoun College. She married Frank Burks in 1957, and they had their daughter, Wanna Fay, in 1958.  

Bonnie became a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartselle in 1968. She taught Sunday School and GA’s and served on the hospitality committee. She worked as a medical receptionist for almost 30 years before retiring. 

Her love of antiques made it possible for her to open her own antique shop, The Dowry Chest. She loved the store, and her customers were family. She loved her life, her family, her extended family, friends and her church. Mrs. Burks was talented as a cook, painter and quilter, and she was a creative and talented lady. She always had a BIG smile and loved to laugh and never threw anything away.
Our family wishes many thanks to the members of the hospice team that became family during the past few months. A “special thanks” to Lucy Lancaster, Rebecca Crumbley, Angela and hospice chaplain Tim who all laughed and cried with us. Also, thanks go to Jennifer Lindsey for her special care.

Brandon Lee Hensley

Funeral service for Brandon Lee Hensley, 18, was held June 15 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Fraser Chapel UMC Cemetery in Sparta, Tenn., at 1 p.m. June 16.  

Mr. Hensley passed away June 8. He was born Dec. 21, 2002, in Knoxville, Tenn., to Bobby Lee Hensley Jr. and Catherine Jean Rogers Tillman.
Brandon was a good young man with a kind heart who loved to laugh and make others laugh. He loved his dog, Bama, and had a passion for cars and driving fast. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cornhole.  

Brandon was employed at Xpress Oil Lube as a mechanical technician prior to his passing. 

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Cathy Rogers Tillman (Danny); brothers, Ashten Hensley, Corey Tillman, Hunter Tillman and Braxton Greenwood Hensley; sisters, Madie Renee Hensley, Skylar Peffers, Brittney Reeves and Megan Jones; and grandparents, Brenda Baker of Lakeland, Fla., Marvin Rogers (Anja) and Angela Hill. 

Helen Turner
Cullman
Funeral service for Helen Turner, 76, was held June 12 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Watts and the Rev. Keith Whitley officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Bell Springs Cemetery. 
A bright light was dimmed Wednesday evening June 9 with the passing of Helen Francis Turner of Cullman. She was born April 9, 1945, in Morgan County to Oliver Burton Walker and Lillie Mae Brown Walker. Helen was an established member of the Cullman community for more than four decades and will be missed but remembered with love. She was a wonderful wife and was mom and Memaw to everyone she met. 

Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Gary Wayne Turner; sons, Cecil Wayne Terry, Henry Guy Terry and Adam Wade Terry; daughter, Kandy Mae Woehler; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Jessica Terry, Pam Terry and Crystal Terry; and son-in-law, Chris Woehler.  

Pallbearers were James Terry, Josh Terry, Christopher Bradford, Kenneth Knott, Chris Lee and Jason Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Guy Terry and Greg Miller. 

Alfred Prater

A graveside funeral service and interment for Alfred Prater, 93, will be June 14 at 11 a.m. at Friendship Cemetery, south of Danville, with Bro. Francis Proctor officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. No

Mr. Prater passed away June 10 at his residence. He was born July 21, 1927, in Morgan County to George Lewis Prater and Lilly Murtis (Legg) Prater.
Mr. Prater was a member of the Penn Church of God. He was a supply clerk, employed by Willo Products, prior to his retirement.  

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Estelle Steele; a brother, M.D. Prater; and a granddaughter, Kelcie Prater.  

Survivors include wife, Mildred Prater; sons, Dewayne Prater (Jayne), Joel Prater; brother, Leon Prater (Elizabeth); sister, Velia Stephenson; sister-in-law, Margaret Prater; grandchildren, Kristi, Matt, Kasey, Mitch, Meg and Drew; great-grandchildren, D.J., Trai, Doug, Brodie, Kilie, Reagan, Lilly, Addison, Kerrie, Katie Grace, Camryn, Maggie, Camron, Seth and Caroline.

Peggy Rackley Lake Barham

Funeral service for Peggy Rackley Lake Barham, 80, was held June 14 at 4:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chris Pressnell officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. 

Mrs. Barham died June 10 at her residence. She was born November 29, 1940, in Morgan County to Jerry Kyle Rackley Sr., and Beatrice McClanahan Rackley. 

She was a nurse employed by Decatur Morgan Hospital, Dunlop and Saginaw during her career and prior to her retirement. She was a member of the church of Christ, and she loved cooking, sewing, crocheting, being on the water and enjoying the river life. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. 

When her first husband died in 1975, Mrs. Barham went and finished nursing school in order to provide for her girls. She was the very best mother in the world.
Preceding her in death were husbands Clinton Ray Lake, and Lloyd Barham; her parents; a brother, Jerry Rackley; and a sister, Nagatha Morgan. 

Survivors include daughters, Alesia Lake Doran (James), Charlotte Lynne Lake and Elizabeth Ann Barham Powers (Gregory Scott); son, Lloyd Jackson Barham; brother, John Leonard Rackley; grandchildren, Jordan Muscat (Vincent), Allison Mays (Ryan), Andrew Powers, Allison Powers, Nichole, Jay, Dewey and Chris Barham; and 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way.  

Pallbearers were Rickey Hardin, Johnnie Howell, Scott Oden, James Doran, Craig Noll and Johnny Rackley. 

Debbie Brown Patterson

Mrs. Patterson died June 11 at her residence. She was born Nov. 1, 1954, in Georgia to John Edgeman and Etheldra Coleman Pentecost.
She was employed at Steak Out prior to her passing.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gerry Edgeman. 

Survivors include her daughter, Melissa Hummer; son, Ricky Brown; sisters, Cheryl Lentz (Tony) and Cindy Ransom; and grandchildren, Haley Hummer and Aaron Brown.  

Pallbearers were family and friends. 

Douglas Clemons

Funeral service for Douglas Clemons, 79, was held June 16 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Henderson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Providence Cemetery, Town Creek. 

Mr. Clemons died June 13 at his residence. He was born Dec. 3, 1941, in Lauderdale County to Arvil Cleo Clemons and Wylodean Stutts Clemons. He was a private in the U.S. Army National Guard, a member
of the Tunsel Road Baptist Church and was employed by the Jeld-Wen Company as a factory worker prior to his retirement.  

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Campbell Clemons, Hartselle; sons, Douglas Michael Clemons, Brighton, Mich., and Christopher Clemons (Lisa), Troutman, N.C.; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Rich Clemons, Robert Davis, Tim Heatley, Matt White, Carl Clemmons and Robert Norton. 

Jerry Wayne Green
Hartselle
Jerry Wayne Green, 70, died June 12 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Nov. 2, 1950, in Blount County to John L. Green and Mildred G. Speakman. He was employed as a mechanic at the Tankersley’s
Service Center prior to his retirement.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debora Green, a sister, Gloria Pope, and his parents. 

Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Bishop (Jerry Lee) and Jessica Berryhill (Anthony); son, Justin Hamby (Sydney); brothers, Kenny Green (Betty) and Ricky Green (Sandra); three grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. No services are scheduled at this time. 

William (Bill) Clark
Lacey’s Spring
Funeral service for William (Bill) Clark, 80, will be June 16 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A. Ray Lee officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Mr. Clark died June 13 at his residence. He was born May 23, 1941, in Morgan County to Murry Lee Clark and Bernice Cornelius McCutcheon Clark.  

Mr. Clark was a retired farmer who loved farming and working on tractors. He was a wonderful Christian man.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hough Clark; a sister, Dale Tucker; and a stepson,
Joe Curbow. 

Survivors include his wife, Dora Lawrence Clark; daughters, Carol Clark and Lee Ann Richardson (James); sisters, Hilda Scheffler (Bob) and Pat Smith; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  

Pallbearers will be family and friends. 

Bob “Robert” Sharlow
Hartselle
Funeral service for Bob “Robert” Sharlow, 75, will be June 17 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe McCaig officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Elliston Cemetery in Elliston, Ohio.  Visitation will be June 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. 

Mr. Sharlow died June 12 at his residence. He was born Sept. 25, 1945, in Lucas, Ohio, to Clarence Lewis Sharlow and Bonnie Lavonne Amsler. He was a manager for ILPA Company prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the Decatur Baptist Church and the Huntsville Orchid Growers Society. He enjoyed Alabama football, was an avid bowler and loved vacationing in Hawaii. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Carl Sharlow, and a brother-in-law, Wilbur Witt. 

Survivors include his wife, Jeneanne Sharlow; sons, Scott Sharlow (Sheri) and Shannon Sharlow (Beth); granddaughters, Meredith Sharlow and Annika Sharlow; brother, Wade Sharlow (Jean Anne); and sisters, Marie Simpson (Jack) and Jean Witt.
