Area churches observe Easter

Several area churches enjoyed special Easter services this past week.  

The members of Mt. Vernon, Piney Grove and Corinth West Methodist enjoyed having special Palm Sunday services. 

The Rev. Darrell Mosely conducted the Easter Sunrise service at 5:30 a.m. at McKendree United Methodist Church. The congregation enjoyed breakfast in the fellowship hall following the service, and their regular Easter service was held at 10:45 a.m. in the sanctuary.  

The members of Fairview-The Grace Place congregation enjoyed a variety of Easter activities April 4. They also had a pancake breakfast, and Pastor Greg Hill conducted the Easter celebration at 11:30 a.m. An Easter egg hunt was also enjoyed by those attending.  

Everyone really enjoyed the Easter activities.  

The members of Falkville United Methodist Church enjoyed holding a Maundy Thursday Last Supper Communion Service April 1.  

The service was conducted by the Rev. Bobby Ray Halbrooks. 

Local Area Community News  

Neal and Dawn Estes have returned from their trip to the University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque, where they enjoyed visiting their son, Aaron Estes. He is an athletic trainer there. 

Jim and Karen Bryant Walker enjoyed visiting area relatives and friends March 2327. They also enjoyed lunch with Bebe and Theron Anders of Huntsville, Larry Anders of Sheffield and Jennifer Anders of Hoover, who was celebrating her birthday. 

Jim and Karen also enjoyed spending time in the Marion, Illinois, area with Jim’s Walker and Granneman families until Good Friday and Easter.  

Following their visit with relatives in Illinois, they returned to their home in Desoto, Kansas.  

Jo Wilson of Falkville has moved to the Hanceville Nursing Home on Highway 31 South.
