Falkville spotlights police, fire service

The Town of Falkville really appreciates the Falkville Fire and Rescue Department and the service it provides Falkville and surrounding area. During the month of December the department received 73 calls50 for EMS, five for fire, 17 for motor vehicle incidents and one other 

The continued dedication of the volunteers allows the department to respond to 100 percent of its calls.   

The Town of Falkville, in observance of National Law Enforcement Day Jan. 9, recognized local law enforcement officers as well as all who work in law enforcement everywhere. All of your sacrifices are appreciated, and you are commended on a job well done. 

In other Falkville news, special thanks goes out this week to Melinda Asherbranner Haynes for the wonderful job she did decorating the Falkville Library with bookloving cool cats.

Special congratulations go out this week to Matthew and Hannah Terry on the birth of their daughter, Lucy James Terry. Lucy was born Nov. 15, 2020, and she weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 19.5 inches long.  

Her proud grandparents are Steve and Mary Terry and Phil and Mary Gail Olinger. Greatgrandparents are Joan Olinger and Rick and Mary Jo Nelson. Late greatgrandfather is Esco Olinger, and late greatgreatgrandmother is Lucille Kathleen Slaten.  

Happy wedding anniversary wishes in the community go to Wylie and Sue Reaves, who celebrated their 63rd anniversary Jan. 6; Euel and Marsha Roberts, who celebrated their 54th anniversary Jan. 14, Clay and Cissy Locklear, who celebrated their 28th anniversary Jan. 16; and Don and Doris Clark, who will celebrate their 56th anniversary Jan. 30
