Marchbanks leads Tigers to 47-32 win over Madison Academy

Hartselle picked up a 47-32 road win over previously undefeated Madison Academy on Thursday night.

Hartselle fell behind 8-4 early in the first quarter following two three-pointers by Madison Academy. The Tigers answered fought back with a 10-0 run to close the first quarter with two three-pointers of their own. Hartselle led 14-8 after the first eight minutes.

Madison Academy opened the second quarter with five consecutive points to cur the Tigers’ lead to 14-13. Hartselle was held to just two points in the quarter but held a 16-13 lead thanks to a tremendous defensive performance.

The second half belonged to Hartselle and a balanced scoring attack. Six different players scored for Hartselle as they outscored the Mustangs 31-19 to secure the win.

Masyn Marchbanks led the Hartselle (4-2) attack with 16 points, five rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Hailey Holshouser finished with nine points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Maggie McClesky added eight points, three rebounds, three steals, and a blocked shot. Lillyanna Cartee had seven points, 10 rebounds, two blocked shots, a steal, and an assist. Gracie Hill added three points while Millie Evans and Emma Roden finished with two points apiece.

Madison Academy (3-1) was led by Haila Morris, who finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.
