Danville rushes past Elkmont, 44-20

Danville picked up its second win of the season with a 44-20 victory over Elkmont.

The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Hawks, who last won the opening week of the season when they defeated Brewer.

Dylan Parker led a Danville rushing attack that finished with 390 yards and five touchdowns. He had 161 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Cameron Moore added 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns, while Ethan Sapp added the fifth rushing touchdown.

“The offensive line did a good job of creating holes for our backs to run through,” said Danville coach Shannon McGregory.

Justice Huff caught a touchdown pass from Gage Taylor to cap off the scoring for the Hawks.

Danville finished with 414 yards of total offense and allowed 179 yards.

“I felt we played pretty well for the most part,” said McGregory. “It’s a good win, and now it’s time to get ready for Clements.

Danville (2-5, 1-3) will travel to Clements (1-6, 1-3) Friday for a Class 3A, Region 8 matchup.
