Appointments will not be made for March, April and May vehicle/boat tag registration renewals. Those renewals will proceed with the following options:

  • Option 1: Renew by mail. Mail check or money order made out to Sharon Maxwell, Commissioner of License, along with the renewal notice. Sign the renewal notice and include a contact number.
  • Option 2: Renew online at https://www.altags.com/morgan_license. The web code will be on the renewal notice, or use the registered owners driver’s license number. Morgan County Commission has waived the processing fee for all debit/credit card payments at this time.

Alabama Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle Division, has extended March and April vehicle tag registration renewals through May 15 without a late fee. Late fees will be charged for March and April vehicle tag registration renewals beginning May 18.

Anyone who has purchased a vehicle from an Alabama automobile dealer and has an Alabama title application may register online. For online vehicle registrations, go to www.easytagal.com. There is a $10 fee charged by the software company to register online. Motorists are encouraged to use this feature because of the high volume of appointments being made; this is the quickest way to register during this time.

These guidelines have been put in place temporarily to maintain social distancing because of COVID-19 and TO maintain organization of traffic in the courthouse office.
