Hartselle sweeps Priceville in ‘Battle of Bethel Road’

Hartselle basketball swept their rivals from the north side of Bethel Road on Thursday night.

Boys

Hartselle 91, Priceville 47: Hartselle sharp-shooter Brody Peebles, who scored 40 points in a victory on Tuesday night, put up 26 points to lead the Tigers to a 91-47 victory over the Priceville Bulldogs.

Peebles scored 15 straight points during a Hartselle 20-7 run to open the game. The Tigers would go on to lead 24-15 at the end of the first quarter.

Tad Sivley added 16 points while Kiah Key had nine points. Luke Ward and Dominic Sanders each scored eight points.

The Tigers defense had 16 steals as the forced the Bulldogs into over 25 turnovers.

Seth Hood led Priceville with 23 points while Chris Thomas finished with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Hartselle plays at home on Tuesday night against Austin while Priceville travels to Lawrence County.

Girls

Hartselle 65, Priceville 42: The Lady Tigers used a suffocating defense coming out of halftime to help turn a six-point deficit into a 23-point victory over the Priceville Lady Bulldogs.

Hartselle came out of the gates hitting four three-pointers in the first quarter to jump out to 16-12 lead.

Priceville would outscore the Lady Tigers 16-6 in the second quarter to take a 28-22 lead.

It was all Hartselle in the second half as they outscored Priceville 43-15 to secure the victory.

Masyn Marchbanks led the way for the Lady Tigers as she scored 21 points. Hailey Holshouser had 18 while Kaitlyn Hogan finished with 12. Lillyanna Cartee finished the night with eight assists and six rebounds.

Hartselle combined to hit 12 three-pointers with Holshouser knocking down five and Hogan hitting four.

Zoey Benson finished with 13 points for the Lady Bulldogs while Jenna Walker added eight points in the loss. Lannah Johnson had six assists and five rebounds.

Hartselle will play Vestavia Hills Saturday afternoon at Mortimer Jordan and then host Austin on Tuesday night. Priceville will travel to Moulton to face the Lady Red Devils on Tuesday night.
