John David “JD” Smith

John David “JD” Smith (JD), 84, died at his home in Hartselle Tues., Aug. 23, 2016. He was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Molus, Ky. to Lloyd and Alma Smith.

He retired from Ford Motor Company in Sharonville, Ohio. He had a dance band in southern Ohio for 30 years. He was a member of the NSRA and his hobby was building street rods. He coached Little League Baseball in Ohio and Florida. He was a Korean War Veteran, and wishes you would honor him with a thoughtful vote for your country in the 2016 Presidential Election. He was a member of former Temple Baptist Church of Detroit Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Alma Smith; two sons, Gary Smith and David Smith; two brothers, Evan and Bill Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Nedra Smith, three sons, Terry Smith of Lynchburg Ohio, Mike Smith (Robbie) of Hartselle and Mark Smith (Marjie) of Washington, Mich. He is survived by two sisters, Meda Pittser (Bob) of Wilmington Ohio, Paula Murphy of Winter Haven Fla., a sister-in-law, Betty Smith of Leesburg, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Candice Smith, Michelle Igo, Natasha Smith, Chelsea Smith, Taylor Morrow (Darren), Cameron Smith, Maggie Smith, Joe Smith and Mark Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Seth Shelly and Saige Igo, Bella and Anikyn Burns, and Lola and Bille Morrow.

Mr. Smith was cremated per his wishes and a gathering to honor his memory, by close family and friends, will take place at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care and Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home for their service
