Mr. Walter, better known as Valter, died Mon., Oct. 19, 2015. He was a “doer” and was always helping at his church, working on the farm or helping a friend. His faith was very important to him. He left behind a legacy of faith and service. Mr. Wade was one of many who helped to secure our freedom during World War II, reaching the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a dedicated member of Somerville Masonic Lodge #721 for 63 years. He served as Master of the Lodge three times; District Lecturer for 22 years; and served in The Grand Lodge of Alabama as Senior Grand Deacon. Mr. Wade was also a member of the Shriners and The York Rite and had the distinction of being a founding member of S.A.V.E.S. fire department. He was a vital member of Somerville United Methodist Church. Foremost, he was a Christian and this fact enables his family to have peace and a desire to celebrate his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, S.T. Goree Wade; a son, Jimmy Wade; and a grandson, Jon Wade.
He is survived by three sons, William “Billy” Wade (Debbie), Lloyd Wade (Anita), and foster son, Mickey Smith, all of Somerville; and three grandsons, Thomas Wade (Abby) of Montgomery, Ryan Wade and Will Wade both of Somerville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Shriner’s Hospital.
