Bank robbery reenactment presented as part of Depot Days

College Street Players will be presenting for the 3rd year The Great Hartselle Bank Robbery of 1926 in conjunction with Depot Days. The play written by Martine Bates Sharp is a theatrical interpretation of historical events that took place in the early morning hours of Mon., March 15, 1926. The play is based on recorded events that took place the night a group of robbers came to Hartselle, took seven hostages and successfully blew open the vault of The Bank of Hartselle. The robbers got away with a reported $14,302.78. With many returning cast members and a few new ones, director Dena Nagel is excited for the community to see part of the town’s history come to life.

College Street Players is sponsoring the event so that the community can enjoy the production for no charge. It will be held at the beautiful historical Hartselle Fine Arts Center at 307 College Street. Donations will be taken at the door for this facility. Seating is limited to 125 people per performance and will be available on a first come first served basis.

Performances will be at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. with the doors opening 30 minutes prior to show time.
