Point Mallard Parkway Baptist Church hosts Everest VBS
Point Mallard Parkway Baptist Church, held an Everest VBS July 12-16 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
They registered 171 children and had over 90 workers. Both numbers were the largest PMPBC ever had.
The children raised over $1,000 for their mission project, which is through Operation Kid 2 Kid. They are providing children’s Bibles for kids in Thailand. Each Bible is $4, and over 250 Bibles will be provided for the Thai children.
They had a weeklong contest between the boys and the girls. They accrued points by learning Bible verses, bringing friends and bringing an offering. The girls won, which resulted in the boy’s leaders being drenched with cold, blue slime.
The children had a great week learning through Bible stories, games, experiments, snacks and missions. They also enjoyed dress-up nights such as crazy socks and shoes night, crazy hair night, crazy pajamas and mismatched clothes night.
Director Nancy Burgess said seven children were saved, which is the most awesome thing about VBS.
PMPBC’s pastor is J.D. Thorne, and it is located on the corner of Hwy 67 and Indian Hills Road in Decatur. Their worship services are held at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. with Sunday school in between at 9:45 a.m. They also hold Wed. night services from 6-7 p.m.
