Hoyt Prater

Funeral for Hoyt Prater, 82, was Thur., June 18, at 10 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Henderson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Friendship Cemetery (South of Danville).

Mr. Prater died on Tues., June 16, 2015 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 5, 1932, in Morgan County to William Franklin Prater and Sindy Adeline (Bishop) Prater and was the eldest son of 10 children. He knew the Lord and cherished his family. He was a constructional welder by trade and loved to travel, loved football and Nascar. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Beverly Cutcher, Alvigene Sanford, Billy Joe Prater, Doris Ives, Helen Sue Clairday, Brenda Barker and James Prater.

He is survived by a son, David Prater (Charlene) of Hartselle; a daughter, Mary Ann Long (Lance) of Highland, Mich.; a brother, Jack Prater, (Patricia) of Eva; a sister, Bonnie Colburn (Clay) of Hartselle; four grandchildren, Gavin and Aubrey Long, Dana Lang (Scott) and Candace McElroy (Chris); six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Sydney and Ashton Lang, Noah Hunter, Caysen and Cael McElroy.

Pallbearers were Gavin Long, Noah Hunter, Robert Clairday, Nathan Prater, Sandy Sanford and Steven Cutcher.
