Members of McKendree United Methodist Church will host Summer Jam in the Country on Sat., June 21, from 4 to 9 p.m.

This will be a Disaster Relief Benefit Concert for the North Alabama Disaster Relief Warehouse. They will have live music with the Praise Band and other entertainers. They will also have a cookout, games and face painting for the children. Everyone is asked to please bring their lawn chairs for the event.

Special congratulations go out this week for David and Tiffany Owen of Massey on the birth of their daughter, Eve Audrey Owen, born June 3. Her big brother is Silas. Eve’s proud grandparents are Pam Bryant Holmes, Mitch Owen, Lorene Bryant, Shelby Spinks and Peggy Owen.

Wonderful belated happy wedding anniversary wishes go out this week to J. W. and Pat Franklin as they celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary and Chuck and Sharon Holder who celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary, both on June 1.

Happy wedding anniversary wishes also go out to Tom and Connie Campbell as they celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary June 14.

Macedonia Baptist Church at Battle Ground had their annual homecoming service on Sun., June 1, at 10:30 a.m. After the morning service, the congregation and guests enjoyed lunch in the fellowship hall. Brother Billy Gable is their pastor.

On Tues., May 27, the Morgan County High School Class of 1963 had supper at Mister Henry’s Restaurant.

The group meets at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of each month. Sue Williams of Pleasant View Community is in charge of class activities.

Round Top Church women’s group began a new book study “When A Woman Trusts God” Mon., June 2 at 9 a.m. They will be reading this book for several months and discussing each chapter at their Monday sessions.

The Kelly family had their monthly supper at the home of Linda and Wayne Humphries at Battle Ground Sat., May 17. Those attending were Anthony and Betty Kelly, Sue Williams and Martha Thomas. They enjoyed pizza and dessert. The next family supper will be a picnic in June.

A baby dedication service was held at Shady Grove Baptist Church on May 25, for Novalee Claire Burch, she is the daughter of Dale and Hannah Burch, Gracie Mae Eddy, the daughter of Dewayne and Nancy Eddy, Bella Claire Parker, the daughter of Chuck and Kim Parker, Reeslyn Marie Riggs, the daughter of Brett and Kayla Riggs and Preston Issac Turrentine, the son of Brandon and Sara Turrentine.

Rex and Christi Mulligan of Hartselle and Arthur Ray and Barbara Summerford of Round Top have returned from an extensive trip west from May 12-24. They enjoyed the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Hoover Dam and Mount Rushmore. They were in 18 states, during this trip.

On Monday mornings, Falkville Health Care and Rehab patients enjoy singing and special music. Rev. Philip Hardin, pastor of New Life-God’s Church is the leader of the group. Jeannie Alexander of the Massey community, Pee Wee Murphy of Falkville and Chris Warnick of Hartselle are the singers. Paula Hardin is their pianist.

Rev. Mike Vest, pastor of Danville United Meth-odist and McKendree United Methodist churches and their delegate, Derrell Shelton, attended the North Alabama annual conference at Birmin-gham Southern College June 1-4.

Dr. John Russell, pastor of Falkville and Gandy’s Cove United Methodist churches, along with delegate Anne Vest, also attended the conference in Birmingham. During the Ordination Service on June 3, Brother John was made a provisional Elder of the United Methodist Church.

“Women of Joy” will be the theme for Corinth West Baptist Women’s group conference Sat., June 21. Registration will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. with the morning program following in the sanctuary. There will be a speaker and special music. Lunch will be served in the fellowship hall at noon.

Area church groups and community residents are welcome.

Senior Citizens Day will be Tues., June 17, at 11 a.m. at Corinth West Baptist Fellowship Hall. There will be hotdogs, hamburgers, beans, chips and desserts. After lunch, there will be three bingo games.
