Hartselle looking for consistency

Hartselle head coach Bob Godsey is looking for more consistency heading into their preseason jamboree game tonight.

During the Tigers’ scrimmage, the offense made some big plays and the defense made plenty of stops. However, he’s looking for more consistency heading into the season.

“On defense, we gave up too many big plays,” Godsey said following Saturday’s scrimmage. “On offense, we didn’t make enough of the plays that sustains drives. We’re very talented and we can make some big plays on offense to keep us in the game, but it’s the dropped passes on third down and the little things that keep a drive going that we didn’t do tonight.”

Overall, he was pleased with the effort on both sides of the ball.

“We made plays on both sides of the football,” Godsey said. “When you have a scrimmage, you worry when one side makes more plays than the other. If you’re offense does really well, you’re worried about your defense. If you’re defense shuts down the offense, then you’re really worried about your offense. But I think we were pretty even on both sides tonight.”

The Tigers will travel to Milton Frank Stadium tonight at 7 p.m. against Huntsville High School.
