Mal Moore, long-time University of Alabama athletics director, died Saturday morning in Durham, N.C., at the age of 73.

Alabama university officials said the 73-year-old Moore died on Saturday at Duke University Medical Center. Moore had been in the Durham, N.C., hospital since March 13 with pulmonary problems, according to the Associated Press.

Moore served as an assistant football coach at Alabama, Notre Dame and with the NFL St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals.

Under his leadership, Alabama won 10 national championship in various sports including three of the last four BCS football championships.
