McKendree United Methodist Church’s Youth, under the direction of leader Kevin Crawley, are participating in “D-Now,” which represents Decision Now. Decision Now is a program which places emphasis on service to others. Community and area youth have been helping others in need in the community and surrounding area. Classes will be held at McKendree Church on Feb.1 and 2, on D-Now and on Sun., Feb. 3, there will be a chili and stew lunch after the morning worship service. Donations will be taken for the meal. Following lunch, the youth group and other workers will go out and help a family in the area. Visitors are welcome to these activities. Rachel Slate, Sandy Hughes and Martha Jackson enjoyed attending the Alabama Accordion-ists Association Benefit Concert for the American Cancer Society, on Sat., Jan. 12. All those attending enjoyed the concert, which featured the Alabama Accordionists Association Orchestra and guest Accordionists Alexander Sevastian, the World Champion of the Coupe Mondial Accordion Competition. The concert was just wonderful.

Falkville Public Library will be holding computer classes on Mon. and Thur. nights, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for five to six weeks. They will be taught by librarian Jenny Asherbranner, with 14 participants already signed up. The library has new books, magazines and newspapers and everyone is invited to take advantage of the library and resolve to “READ” in the month of January.

McKendree United Methodist Women will not have a meeting for the month of January. Their next meeting will be on Thur., Feb. 21, at 1:30 p.m. in the church library. There will be a pledge service and the regular program.
